THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL
By: Horton Foote Trapped in a cramped Houston apartment with her soft-spoken son and self-absorbed daughter-in-law, widow Carrie Watts dreams of returning to her home in the small Gulf Coast town of Bountiful, where she grew up and raised her own family. Fearing that she's an imposition and chafing under her daughter-in-law's watchful eye, she steals away with her latest pension check and heads home. The results are both brilliantly life-affirming and heartbreaking in one of legendary playwright Horton Foote's most beloved works. Featuring award winning local stage veteran Samille Basler (most recently seen at Village in August:Osage County) The Trip to Bountiful promises to be a moving and memorable evening of theatre.

Director's Note
I am so thrilled to continue our "journeys of a lifetime" with this heartwarming family drama. Featuring the luminary Samille Basler in the leading role, Pulitzer Prize winner Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful, is an unforgettable meditation on the idea of home and its power to sustain us. In 1953 Houston, elderly Carrie Watts dreams endlessly of returning to the home of her youth, but to do so she must first find a way to escape the supervision of an over-bearing daughter-in-law(Liz Duren) and an under-serving son(Jeff Jordan). What follows is a touching and inspiring odyssey through the American lanscape and the landscape of the the heart as Carrie discovers the true magic of home that lives within us all.
